Climeworks provides atmospheric CO2 to the European Horizon 2020 project, CELBICON, which aims to establish new highly efficient and robust CO2-to-chemicals technologies available at an attractive price.
The technologies are intended for decentralised use with moderate operating temperatures and low maintenance costs. Climeworks CO2 is used for electro-catalytic and biological transformation to base chemicals.
The project brings together a consortium of 13 partners from research and industry, under the direction of the Polytechnic University of Turin, and is sponsored by the European Union (contract number 679050), as well as by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (contract number 16.0030), with an overall budget of €6 million.
