Climeworks is providing atmospheric CO2 to a large-scale Power-to-Gas storage (PtG storage) demonstrator in Troia, Italy, which aims to compensate the fluctuating supply of renewable energies.

The demonstrator is one of three innovative large scale storage concepts being developed under the European Horizon 2020 project STORE&GO. The demonstration sites are planned in Germany, Switzerland and Italy. The project brings together 27 partners and is coordinated by the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water (DVGW) and sponsored by the European Union (contract number 691797), as well as by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (contract number 15.0333). The overall budget is €28 million.
